At somewhere around 9:50 A.M. Jonathan and I dipped our front tires in the Atlantic Ocean at Ocean Park, Maine. I will give you all the details later today after we go to lunch, do some sightseeing, shopping, and go to supper (We sure do eat a lot, don't we?). You are loved and appreciated!

ReplyDeleteI would be less than honest if I said "I never doubted you'd do it." About the second day in Montana is where I got "faith" that you guys had "what it took." You want to be careful how much time you spend with your front wheels in the ocean for photo ops. That is salt water and you will find that you have peddle harder after your bearing get a salt water bath. I think I would wrap the Cannondale in saran wrap to preserve it case later generations want to make sure it was "legal".

Drive carefully now, after 4300 miles on a bike without a wreck, you sure don't want one in the Explorer.
Super! Our great American bike heroes made it! My what lovely T-shirts you have! Thanks Sarah for reminding them. Glad you coudl be there for the great event. Who saiys God doesn't love "old" youth pastors! Although I think Barry got younger on this trip! He may have to "un-retire".

GLRY, GLORY, GLORY! CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!! Confetti, streamers, champai...errr...I mean sparkling apple or grape juice!!! As Kool & the Gang sang back in the day, "CELEBRATE good times, COME ON!" I am STILL expecting SOME type of blog from Burr EVERY morning before I leave for work. This has been a blessing and a highlight of each day. You are THE BEST Burr!! ...and Jonathan, for a young whipper-snapper, although not as amazing a feat as a 67 year-old retired Youth Dude, you are awesome too! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what you are celebrating. I was under the impression you were continuing on to England. If that is not the case, consider me disappointed. Plus, what's the big deal about dipping you bikes into the Atlantic? I used to live off the beach and got into the Atlantic just about every day. My whole body. Once I even drove our car into it. So I am not sure what the hoopla is about putting your bike tires into it. Please explain this in a future blog. Since you are eating in Maine, you should have traditional Maine fare for dinner and enjoy some egg rolls and Kung Pao chicken. Mike, I can tell you do not drink champagne since you do not know how to start pretending to spell it. I will keep it between us so as not to embarrass you in front of everyone else.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations gang!All the way across the US on a bike that uses pedals instead of a motor is quite an accomplishment. Especially for someone who is a little older than I am. It took a lot of planning to go along with the pedaling and it took a God who cares, to watch over you so you could have a safe and accident free trip. I am looking forward to seeing you sometime next week. And if you still don't have a Pennsylvania plate, I might be able to get one for you.
