TEAM

"It all comes back to Jesus: Follow, Worship, Live through him."
-VBS Slogan, First Baptist Church, Monticello, Utah

"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."
1 John 4:9

The morning went well with Sunday School at 9:45, followed by the Worship Service and a lunch you wouldn't believe. Good stuff!
Outside, with a hint of rain, we set up the VBS tent which requires quite a bit of work. We have set up that tent for over ten years now so each year we get a little better and the tent goes up much faster. Well, the tent is now up, the VBS meeting is finished, and tomorrow we begin. At 8:30 in the morning we will register children, at 9 the horn will sound, and VBS 2009 will be under way. We have prayed about and are looking forward to a great week-long Bible study. Keep us in your prayers.

When we travel to a church to do a mission trip we are always ready to do whatever is needed. Our goal is to assist the pastor and church as required. Whenever we've served here in Monticello we have found out where the needs were and plugged in those students and workers who fit. Sometimes we move students around but most of the time the fit is good and the VBS team works effectively and with great results. I believe the 2009 Ministry Team will do the same.
"The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one body. So it is with the body of Christ" (1 Corinthians 12:12).
I am always amazed by what happens when I take a group of students somewhere to minister to a pastor and a church. First of all, it seems like the students who are involved are never the group I would intentionally put together. There are always students I wish would go but don't and there are students I would never expect to go and they do. It's an unsolved mystery.
Second, the groups who do this stuff always work out and get the jobs done. It never seems to fail and we always go home having accomplished more than expected. This week we plan to do VBS and several large projects. Normally I would look at this week as three weeks worth of work. We will finish in a week, I am confident of that.
Finally, every group heads home physically worn out and spiritually refreshed. This group will be worn out because of all they've done. When we drive out of Monticello next monday morning this crew will be sleeping before we reach Colorado, seventeen miles to the east. They'll be tired but they will be refreshed because they've done a lot of work and invested another week in eternity. That's the way it works! Happens every time.
No two students will do exactly the same things during the week. Each student is different and it's those differences that make us one. It's those differences that make us a team.
Together Everyone Accomplishes Much!
