Cattle!

"Praise the Lord."
-Psalm 148:1a

Willy Nelson sings it and we're doing it, "One the road again!" Today we were on the road again from Little Rock, Arkansas to Amarillo, Texas. It was a great travel day as we mooved our herd this morning to graze on free meals without beef at Chick-fil-A in Fort Smith, Arkansas! We created our own stampede! We should have gone from Chick-fil-A to Chick-fil-A to Chick-fil-A today for a day of free meals! You'll have to admit, the cattle did great jobs with their meal-winning wardrobes. I am udderly amazed! Sadly however, we started our day speaking out on behalf of cows and ended our day eating them! Oh well . . .
This evening we are staying with Les and Denise Simpson and some neighbors in Amarillo. We just ate supper with Les, Denise, Faith, and Meredith at The Big Texan. Afterwards Les treated us to ice cream at Braum's. I am fuller than I should be. We are all fuller than we should be.
The Simpsons were members at Prince when Les worked for the Athens Newspapers. They moved away around 2,000, moving to Augusta, Georgia and then to Amarillo, Texas. (The Simpsons can only live in cities that begin with the letter A.) For those of you who know them, all is well with the Simpson family in Amarillo.
This is another quick post because sleep has been a slim commodity lately. Also, I have tried to find something real spiritual to write about cows, cattle, beef, and such but was not able to do so without adding some distortion and stretching of some cattle-related scriptures. I probably was trying to find some verses that focus on cattle and then I could mention the Lord. My focus would have been wrong if I had succeeded in doing that. So, instead, I found a chapter that focuses on the Lord but mentions cattle. It's one of my favorite Psalms:

"Praise the Lord.

"Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights above.
Praise him, all his angels,
praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you water above the skies.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created.
He set them in place for ever and ever;
he gave a decree that will never pass away.

"Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
young men and maidens,
old men and children.

"Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
He has raised up for his people a horn,
the praise of all his saints,
of Israel, the people close to his heart.

"Praise the Lord " (Psalm 148).

There's the beef! Praise the Lord.
